Medical alert, made simple

Live on your own terms. Help is one press away.

Press the button and a person answers.

Plans from $29.95 a month, about $1 a day. No activation fee.

Why people call us

You worry. She wants her independence. Both of you can have what you want.

The fear is specific, and most families never say it out loud: a fall in the hallway, on an ordinary Tuesday, with nobody there and the phone in the other room. Not the falling. The lying there.

A button changes the shape of that. She presses it, wherever she is, and a person answers and can send help. They know who to call and in what order, because you told them. She does not have to reach a phone, remember a number, or decide whether it is bad enough to bother anyone.

Day to day, what it really buys is that neither of you has to keep negotiating. She stops feeling checked up on. You stop calling at nine to see if she picked up, and stop reading anything into it when she does not. That is the thing worth paying for, and it costs less than most people expect.

What you get

Four things that matter, and nothing that does not

  • A person answers

Press the button and a person at the monitoring centre picks up. When ordering opens, every plan will include professional monitoring around the clock. We will name our monitoring center here before we take a single order.

  • At home and away

Every plan works over the cellular network, with no landline to plug into, so it works in the garden and in the supermarket rather than only in the hallway.

  • Family stays in the loop

The people you nominate are told when something happens. On the Fall Detection, Smart Protection and Premium plans there is an app, so they can check the device themselves rather than ringing to ask.

  • Fall detection, when you want it

Automatic fall detection is on the Fall Detection and Smart Protection plans, from $39.95 a month. It calls for you if you cannot press the button yourself.

What happens when you press it

A person answers, and can send help

  1. You press the button

One button, on the pendant itself. On the Fall Detection and Smart Protection plans, the device can also detect a fall and raise the call for you if you cannot press it.

  2. A person answers

Not a menu and not a recording: a person at the monitoring centre picks up.

  3. They send the help you need

They send whoever is needed and call the people on your contact list, so your family knows. On the Essential, Mobile and Fall Detection plans, they can also talk with you through the pendant itself.

Ordinary days

This is what it is for

Not for emergencies. For the ninety-nine days between them, when nothing happens and nobody has to think about it.

  • Two women in a garden, one crouching to touch a pink peony, the other standing behind her among the flowers.

The garden does not get smaller because you turned seventy.

  • An older man and woman with grey hair, walking away down a tree-lined road with his arm around her shoulders.

Out for the morning, and nobody at home counting the minutes.

  • An older woman in a patterned headscarf standing among tall trees, smiling toward the camera.

Far from the house, still one press from a person who answers.

A grandmother and her granddaughter at a kitchen table, cheek to cheek and laughing, holding up a phone.

For the family

You can stop checking your phone

Often, the person buying is not the person wearing it. It is a son or a daughter who has been quietly worrying and has not known how to bring it up. On the Fall Detection, Smart Protection and Premium plans there is a caregiver app for them, so they can see where the device is if a call is ever raised. On the Essential plan, loved ones get email and text alerts instead, for things like a low battery.

You can be on the contact list, so the monitoring centre calls you when something happens. Nobody has to remember to phone you.

Pro-rata refund on death or a move to care

If the person wearing the device dies, or moves into a care facility, we refund the unused portion of what you paid, pro rata. We print it here because it is the thing families quietly worry about and rarely find written down.

Questions

The questions families ask

The answers, not a summary of the answers.

  • What does it cost?

Plans run from $29.95 a month, which is about $1 a day, up to $49.95.

It is on the Fall Detection and Smart Protection plans: $39.95 and $44.95 a month.

  • Is there a contract?

You can go month to month, or take a program of 12, 24 or 36 months at the same monthly price. The longer programs are not cheaper per month and we do not pretend otherwise.

  • What if it does not suit us?

30 days risk-free. We refund your monitoring in full, and we refund the $129 equipment fee too when you send the device back.
